DO YOU REALLY THINK ANYTHING HAS CHANGED IN WASHINGTON?

WASHINGTON DC – Three well-known Catholic scholars and political observers are coming together for an informative and thought-provoking one-day conference  (http://www.isoc.ws/crc-vi.html) that promises to provide a unique – and uniquely Catholic – insight into how to effect real change in government and  society.

Sponsored by the In the Spirit of Chartres Committee (ISOC), the event will take place on Saturday, December 12, at the Washington Dulles Airport Marriott hotel.  The theme of the conference is “Catholic Social Teachings vs. Business as Usual in WashingtonD.C.” and will feature Dr. E. Michael Jones, Gary Potter, and John Sharpe on the speakers’ platform.  All renowned in their own areas of expertise, and occasionally controversial, these men will deliver their observations on how the perennial and integral teachings of the Roman Catholic Church could well be the very – if not the only – means to clean up the perpetual mess in Washington and beyond.

Jones is the author of 14 books, most recently Is Notre Dame Still Catholic?.  He is also editor of Culture Wars, a monthly opinion journal known for its hard-hitting and sometimes contentious content. Potter is a veteran journalist and widely read author. No stranger to the Washington scene, he is an authority on the Church’s teachings as applied to the political and social domains. Sharpe, a former Naval officer with well-known anti-war sentiments, as expressed in the Neo-CONNED! volumes he edited, is co-founder and editor of IHS Press, and a student of 19th- and 20th-Century Catholic Social Teachings.

According to Judith Sharpe, president of the sponsoring organization, “The cost, $65.00, for an all-day conference in DC with three speakers and a hot lunch is an outstanding bargain at today’s prices!”  She added that the price at the door is $75, but that priests and religious may attend free.

Ms. Sharpe also stressed that for those from out of town wishing to attend the conference, a limited number of discounted rooms are available at the Airport Marriott on a first-come, first-served basis, as is seating at the conference itself.

“We hope as many people as possible will want to take advantage of the opportunity to hear these three powerful and dynamic speakers, together for the first time,” she said. But she stressed that for those who can’t make the conference in person, the presentations will be available in CD and DVD formats, available at isoc.com@verizon.net or by phone at (757) 925-7904.

“Either way,” she concluded, “live or on CD, these are three provocative and exciting speakers who will keep you on the edge of your seat. It should be a barn-burner of a conference.”
