Francis Breaks Liturgical Tradition
Politicizes Holy Thursday - Washes the Feet of Refugees
Includes Catholic, Orthodox, men and women, two Muslims and a Hindu

Compiled by John Vennari

This comes as no surprise, as Papa Bergoglio seems to regard Church laws he does not like as "small-minded rules" and proceeds to shatter them. When Archbishop of Buenos Aires, he washed the feet of women on Holy Thursday – thus breaking Church law without remorse. As one commentator sadly noted, "The law breaker has become the law maker."

Crux reports the humanism and religious indifferentism at the base of Francis' actions:

"Pope Francis washed and kissed the feet of Muslim, Orthodox, Hindu, and Catholic refugees Thursday, declaring them children of the same God, in a gesture of welcome and brotherhood at a time when anti-Muslim and anti-immigrant sentiment has spiked following the Brussels attacks.

"The Vatican said Thursday that four women and eight men took part. The women included an Italian Catholic who works at the center and three Eritrean Coptic Christian migrants. The men included four Catholics from Nigeria, three Muslims from Mali, Syria, and Pakistan, and a Hindu man from India.

"The Vatican’s new norms said anyone from the 'people of God' could be chosen to participate in the ceremony. While the phrase 'people of God' usually refers to baptized Christians, the decree also said that pastors should instruct 'both the chosen faithful and others so that they may participate in the rite consciously, actively, and fruitfully,' suggesting that the rite could be open to non-Catholics as well."

While the Church has always encouraged showing Charity to all, it never has never blessed Charity at the expense of the truth, for such is not Charity at all.

We will content ourselves quoting one of the many ways Francis actions are a departure from true Catholic doctrine. Here is Pope Gregory XVI's clear condemnation of religious indifferentism, which destroys Francis' unqualified "we are all children of the same God" error:

“Now we come to another very fertile cause of the evils by which, we are sorry to see, the contemporary Church being afflicted.
This is indifferentism, or that wicked opinion which has grown up on all sides through the deceit of evil men. According to this opinion, the eternal salvation of the soul can be attained by any kind of profession of faith, as long as a man’s morals are in line with the standard of justice and honesty. You must drive out from the people entrusted to your care this most deplorable error on a matter so obviously important and so completely clear. For, since the Apostle has warned that there is one God, one faith, one baptism, those who pretend that the way to [eternal] beatitude starts from any religion at all should be afraid and should seriously think over the fact that, according to the testimony of the Savior Himself, they are against Christ because they are not for Christ; and that they are miserably scattering because they are not gathering with Him; and that consequently, they are most certainly going to perish forever, unless they hold the Catholic faith and keep it whole and inviolate”. - Pope Gregory XVI, Mirari Vos

Francis is far removed from the true Catholic doctrine found in Pope Pius XI's Consecration of the Human Race to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, that recognizes non-Catholics as not part of the Kingdom of God, and prays for their conversion:

"Be Thou King of those who are deceived by erroneous opinions, or whom discord keeps aloof, and call them back to the harbor of truth and unity of faith, so that there may be but one flock and one Shepherd.

"Be Thou King of all those who are still involved in the darkness of idolatry or of Islamism, and refuse not to draw them into the light and kingdom of God.

"Turn Thine eyes of mercy towards the children of the race, once Thy chosen people: of old they called down upon themselves the Blood of the Savior; may it now descend upon them a laver of redemption and of life."

Pope Pius XI thus calls non-Catholics to the true supernatural unity, not a counterfeit unity of naturalism with a thin Christian veneer.
