How Cowards Think!
Why the US Bishops Do Not Excommunicate Pro-Abortion Politicians
April 30, 2007: CFN has received the following communication from the Saint Joseph Men's Association
By their own words, the U.S Bishops......admit
to their motives in being moral cowards in defending the unborn. The
most recent newsletter of the St. Joseph's Foundation (www.st-joseph-foundation.org)
had an article titled, "The High Cost of Antinomianism" by Charles
Wilson. In the article, he cited an address by the former Archbishop of
Washington
D.C, Theodore Cardinal McCarrick, to the Canadian Conference of Bishops
(www.cccb.ca/site/content/view/2364/1214/lang,eng/
) in which his Eminence spent most of his address either justifying the
collective cowardice of the bishops or attacking those good Catholics who are
begging their excellencies to act like successors of the Apostles and defend the
unborn. However, his address contained this little gem of
information below, which confirms what many Catholics in the pro life movement
have long suspected, but now its in the record.
Without further
ado, Cardinal Theodore McCarrick:
"Cardinal Avery Dulles made this same point in a
recent interview: “The Church’s prime responsibility is to teach and to
persuade. She tries to convince citizens to engage in the political process
with a well-informed conscience.” He also cautions that the imposition of
penalties comes with some serious risks: “In the first place, the Bishop may be
accused, however unfairly, of trying to coerce the politician’s conscience.
Secondly, people can easily accuse the Church of trying to meddle in the
political process, which in this country depends on the free consent of the
governed. And finally, the Church incurs a
danger of alienating judges, legislators and public administrators whose good
will is needed for other good programs, such as the support of Catholic
education and the care of the poor. For all these reasons, the Church is
reluctant to discipline politicians in a public way, even when it is clear that
their positions are morally indefensible.”
[-end of quote from Cardinal McCarrick]
"Then went one of
the twelve, who was called Judas Iscariot, to the chief priests, and said to
them: What will you give me, and I will deliver him unto you? But they appointed
him thirty pieces of silver. And from thenceforth he sought opportunity to
betray him" St.. Matthew, 26:14-16
So,
"Catholic Charities", "People Acting in
Community Together", the "Campaign for Human Development"......its all the same,
left-wing feigned concern for the "poor" in the tradition of Judas. And their
concern for supporting Catholic education? PLEAZE! Most Bishops haven't done
a thing to protect the Catholicism of our schools and instead support
classroom planned
parenthood style "sex education".
"What Our Lord said to Judas,
He says to the world today: you seemingly are very interested in social
justice. Why are you not concerned with individual justice? You love your
neighbor; why do you not love God? This is the attitude of the world today. We
have swung away from a period in which we were concerned with individual
sanctification to the neglect of the social order. Now we have gone to the
extreme of being immersed with social justice, civil rights, and so forth (today one can add capital punishment, the environment
and immigration), and we are not the least bit concerned about individual
justice and the duty of paying honor and glory to God. If you march with a
banner, if you protest, then your individual life may be impure, alcoholic,
anything you please. That does not matter. Judas is the patron saint of those
who divide that universal law of God: Love God and love neighbor." Archbishop
Fulton Sheen
So it doesn't matter
if a bishop is a practicing homosexual, or that he allows the youth of his
diocese to be corrupted in his schools, or that he fails to discipline pro
abortion "Catholic" politicians, what matters is that he doesn't alienate
politicians who are "good" on education and the "poor". What about the poor
dead baby in the dumpster outside the abortuary? What about the fallen away
Catholic young man immersed in the vice of the homosexual lifestyle because all
he learned in twelve years of a Catholic education was "too judge
not".........What matters is that the public
sees that the Bishop "cares" for convicted murderers on death row and
"undocumented workers". "Feelings, nothing more than
feelings".......
We need to spread this little quote from Cardinal
Dulles far and wide.......
