New Ecumenical Orientation at Fatima

Shrine Rector Guerra stated at the 2003 Fatima Congress "...we rejoice in the brotherly presence of the representatives of the various spiritual schools and we are sure that their presence here opened up the way for a greater future; [a] Shrine that seems already vocationed, thanks to Divine Providence, for contacts and for dialogue."

 

Hindu Ritual Performed at Fatima Shrine

On May 5, 2004, SIC television reprted that the Fatima Shrine Rector allowed Hindus to perform a pagan ritual on the Catholic altar at the Fatima Shrine. This is after Msgr. Guerra, Father Robert J. Fox and others auddred us that "Fatima will retain its Catholic identity." Meanwhile, a local newspaper in Fatima equates Cathlics who resist ecumenism with the Taliban.
